Vanderbilt football made history on Saturday, scoring its first touchdown against Alabama since 2007 and surpassing its total points scored against the Crimson Tide during Nick Saban's entire tenure in just one half of football. The Commodores went on to pull off a stunning 40-35 victory, marking their first-ever win over an AP No. 1-ranked team.

As time ticked down, chants of "V-U" echoed through a crowd heavily dominated by Alabama fans at FirstBank Stadium, with the Commodores kneeling out the final moments of their historic win.

Key plays included a pick-six and three costly Alabama penalties that led to first downs for Vanderbilt. The Commodores held a 23-14 lead at halftime and dominated time of possession, holding the ball for 21½ minutes.

Vanderbilt kicker Brock Taylor also etched his name in school history, setting a record with his third field goal of 50+ yards in the same season.

Alabama (4-1, 1-1 SEC), fresh off an emotional win over Georgia, came into the game facing a well-rested Vanderbilt squad (3-2, 1-1 SEC) that had lost to Missouri two weeks prior but had a bye last Saturday.

On a 4th-and-1 from the 2-yard line, Ryan Williams took a jet sweep and crossed the goal line for the score.

**Vanderbilt 40, Alabama 28**: Kamrean Johnson hauls in a 6-yard touchdown catch.

After Miles Capers and Yilanan Ouattara teamed up for a strip-sack of Jalen Milroe, Vanderbilt took advantage of the favorable field position, driving down the field and finishing the drive with Diego Pavia’s touchdown pass to Kamrean Johnson.

After a holding penalty nullified what would have been a Cole Spence touchdown run, Vanderbilt opted for a 33-yard field goal from Brock Taylor.

**Vanderbilt 30, Alabama 28:** Ryan Williams 58-yard touchdown catch  

Ryan Williams, Alabama's 17-year-old star, hauled in a deep pass from Jalen Milroe along the sideline and raced into the end zone, cutting the deficit to just two points.

**Vanderbilt 30, Alabama 21:** Junior Sherrill 36-yard touchdown catch  

On a critical 4th-and-1 from the Alabama 36, Vanderbilt bypassed a long field goal attempt and went for it. Diego Pavia connected with Junior Sherrill on a deep pass, resulting in a touchdown.

After a 46-yard kick return set up excellent field position, Jalen Milroe, who had struggled with his rushing game in the first half, broke free for a 14-yard touchdown run to give Alabama its first lead of the second half.

With halftime nearing, Alabama quickly answered with a touchdown drive. After the Crimson Tide lined up to go for two, Vanderbilt called a timeout, but Alabama ultimately decided to kick the extra point.

Following a quick three-and-out by Alabama, Vanderbilt took over with great field position. Despite a false start penalty stalling the drive, Brock Taylor stepped up and drilled a 51-yard field goal to extend the Commodores' lead.

**Vanderbilt 20, Alabama 7:** Sedrick Alexander 1-yard rush  

Vanderbilt converted on a fourth down near midfield but was initially set to punt. A penalty extended the drive, and with two more defensive penalties giving the Commodores free yardage, Sedrick Alexander capped the drive with a 1-yard rushing touchdown.
